Winter Trees

Sitting on my back porch, in 70 degree weather, it hardly feels like winter this year. I love sitting here, sipping on coffee and watching the squirrels and birds dash around the branches.

The trees in the backyard woods were my inspiration for my latest paintings. I love the contrasting lines against the grey background of the sky.

I finished this painting in about 3 hours, on a lonely December afternoon. Love the colors and confusion of lines.

Of course I couldn't stop there. Being a VERY rainy day today, I stayed inside and pulled out umber and sienna. For this one I used a combination of palette knifes and brushes, adding multiple layers of trees.
